After a disapointing season getting relegated from the premier division,
manager Stevo made some excellent new signings in a bid to get back into the top flight. Paul Clarke, Mick Dunn, Craig Lumley,
Andy Christie and Paul Chell proved to be valuable assetts to the squad as the Sports went on the rampage in their first game.
On a good surface Thackely's passing and movement off the ball was outstanding and by half time were 9-0 up! The aim
in the second half was to keep a clean sheet as Thackley took their foot off the gas slightly hich was to be expected. But
the onslaught continued as another five goals flew in past the distraught keeper.
Thackleys new front pairing of Paul Clarke and Mick Dunn scored five
goals each, Craig Lumley getting a brace and Paul Chell firing one from 20 yards plus an own goal, capped an emphatic
display in the season opener. The only downside to this win was the news that new signing Andy Christie broke his ankle on
his league debut and will be out for a minimum six weeks.
Man Of The Match : Paul Clarke - Ran them ragged.
